No Levy for Five Years - How we got here?
July 18, 2011

Last November (2010) as Springboro Schools attempted to pass a tax increase for the 5th time, their levey committee, 4 out of 5 Board of Education members, and a majority of the administration and faculty, declared financial Armageddon and told us the "face of education in Springboro would change" without the approval of an EMERGENCY levy.  But, on May 27th 2011, Springboro Schools unveiled an updated Five-Year Financial Forecast.  This forecast eliminated the $25.8 million deficity presented in the October 2010 forecast.  The new forecast projects a $6 million surplus through 2015.  With this forecast the district reverses its previous declarations and now believes that no new school taxes will be required for at least five years.   Read all about it here.

Educate Springboro reacts to results of union negotiations and May 2011 financial forecast
May 27, 2011

Springboro Schools released its May 2011 financial forecast erasing the $25 million deficit presented in the previous forecast.  According the Superintendent Gene Lolli, a combination of new revenue, more realistic assumptions, and implementation of a number budget saving measures - including many recommended by Educate Springboro last fall - have enabled the district to avoid a deficit through 2015 without new taxes.  Click here to see the presentation and Educate Springboro's reaction.
